Content Types

What are content types?

The CRD website and sub-sites contain many types of content, such as informational pages, news items, events, meetings, and more. In Drupal, each item of content is called a node, and each node belongs to a single content type, which defines various default settings for nodes of that type, such as whether the node is published automatically and whether comments are permitted.

Each content type includes a unique set of fields related to the type of content that is being displayed. For example, an event and a meeting will both have a time and date field, but an event may have a cost field and a meeting may not. Each content type has been built to be unique to CRD's requirements.

Using flexible content rows

In addition to a specified set of fields for each content type, you have the ability to use a selection of content rows on each node. These rows will appear below the speficied fields and can be used to build out a content node with additional information as desired.

Content rows rows enable you to build out any node the same way you would build a page, but are not required in every instance.

For examples of the content rows and how they display, you can view the boilerplate page. More information on how to use specific content rows can be found on the Content Rows page.
